How to Authenticate Burberry Clothing ?

When we think of Burberry, it comes to our minds a brand that has been around for over 150 years, with timeless designs that has managed to emblematize classic plaid lines and present the material in a discerning way. And since you're a vintage lover like us, you might have already tried to buy Burberry Clothing items. However, due to the immense popularity, there are many fake imitations of the original designs. At first glance, it can be tricky to tell the real deal from the fake, but don’t worry, we'll tell you some tips to spot fake Burberry items.

Check The Label

Every Burberry item should contain either a metal plaque or a leather tag, centered on the label/stamp or plaque. Also, the label will clearly say “Made in London” or “Made in Italy”, if it says made in China, don’t worry, that doesn’t mean it’s fake, nowadays Burberry does make some items in China, especially smaller bags and accessories. The best indicator is the distinctive font of the logo on the plaque or tag, the left side of the “U” and the “Y” is slightly wider and the “R” has small tails. Also “Burberry” will be written in capital letters, like BURBERRY, and will include the symbol of a knight on a horse, which will be looking on the left.

The Patterns

Some of the most popular patterns that Burberry has made are the ”Classic Check" and the "Nova Check”. On the Classic Check you can spot a blurred knight where the red lines meet, that’s a good sign, if you see variation you may be seeing a fake one. The Classic Check has a tan background, with black, white and red stripes of both perfectly straight horizontal and vertical. Unlike the Classic Check, the Nova Check pattern doesn’t have the blurred knight on it. The colours of this print are navy blue, red, and black over a cream background. The stripes are vertical and horizontal. An imitation will have unequal lines with bad quality colours.

Clothing Material

All Burberry items use high-quality products, they have precise stitching and quality buckles. The buttons, buckles and zippers are also of good quality with the logo of knight riding a horse, and the name is featured.

The Wash Tag

This tip goes for the coats. A good way to find out fake Burberry coats, is checking the wash tag. We have to say that not all Burberry coats got this one, but nowadays most of the newest coats have it. First, keep an eye out for missing inscriptions, as this really happens on fake Burberry coats, especially when it comes to the text, which mentions the size of the coat, and make sure that the model’s tab and the wash tag match with your Burberry coat.
